Adriana Carvajal    Ms. Adriana Benoit, Owner.

Ms. Adriana has owned Daytime Playtime since 2008. She started at Daytime Playtime as a teacher in 2007 prior to purchasing the business. She is a firm believer that children should learn through play, have freedom of choice, and teachers need to embrace and teach to the whole child. She was born and raised in Costa Rica and in 2000 she moved to America when her father received a job transferred. She is married to her husband Derrek and have four children (Mia, Markus, Peyton and Dawson). She is also the owner of Mystic Flow Wellness Center where they specialize in holistic services to encourage balanced bodies, harmonious minds and clarity of spirit. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education degree from Costa Rica and a degree in psychotherapy from Georgia.

Lisa Doheney    Ms. Lisa Doheney, Director.

Ms. Lisa has been part of Daytime Playtime since 2010. She created and taught the Jr. Kindergarten class for seven years, the Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday 4 year old program and the five day 4 year old program. Lisa has worked in the daycare and in the preschool sector for over fifteen years. She loves working with children. She embraces teaching as a chance to inspire and empower the children around her. She graduated Northern VA Community College with a A.S. in Social Science with a specialization in Teacher Education in 2008. She also obtained a B.A in History with a minor in Elementary Education in 2010. She is married and has one daughter named Lexi who attends Daytime Playtime.

Teachers and Support Staff:

Barbara Veltri    Ms. Barbara Veltri, Two Year Old Teacher

Ms. Barbara Veltri is our Monday through Friday morning 2-year-old teacher. She has a Bachelors Degree in Communications and will earn her Master’s in Early Childhood Education for Diverse Learner Pre-K through Grade 3 in May 2020. She has been working with children for over fifteen years in the daycare sector, being an au pair and in missionary groups. When she is not teaching or studying, she enjoys going to parks and festivals with her husband. She loves how sincere children are. She believes that everything children learn at a young age, especially in preschool, will help to build the skills that will prepare them for the future. She is excited to help and teach her students and to be a part of their lives in this moment.

Kayla Lands    Ms. Kayla Lands, Assistant

Ms. Kayla Lands assists in our Monday through Friday morning 2-year-old class with Ms. Barbara. She has been teaching our toddlers since 2017. She loves being around the children and helps them progress with their self-help skills. She is currently attending college and earning a degree in General Studies. She is extremely excited to get to know her toddlers and watch them grow and develop. During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling and going to festivals.

JJ Teganini    Ms. JJ Teganini, Three-Year-Old Teacher

Ms. JJ has many roles at Daytime Playtime. She is our Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday morning 3-year-old teacher, the enrichment teacher for our Lunch & Learn program and assists in the office on Friday mornings. She has been associated with the school since 2004. She began as a parent while her children attended Daytime Playtime and eventually joined as a teacher in 2015. She has taught our Mommy Morning Out program, our 2-year-old program, and now our 3-year-old program. She is married with three children (Joey Jr, Jordan and Josh). Ms. JJ earned her degree in 1995 from Radford University. She worked in the Education Department at America Online and ran an in-home daycare for six years. She loves helping children grow and learn all while being silly with them. When she isn’t working, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her friends and family.

Teresa Eickman    Ms. Teresa Eickman, Three-Year-Old Teacher

Ms. Teresa teaches our Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday morning 3-year-old program. She has been part of Daytime Playtime since 2016. She originally started as our Monday through Thursday morning 4-year-old teacher, but learned her passion is teaching younger children. She is married and has one fur baby, named Murphy. She earned her CDA from a community college in Florida and has been teaching preschool for over twenty-five years. She enjoys traveling, going to the beach, gardening, and spending time with her dog. She loves seeing the children’s eagerness to learn new things and the unconditional love they have.

Kristine San Luis    Ms. Kristine San Luis, Four-Year-Old Teacher

Ms. Kristine teaches our Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday morning and afternoon 4-year-old classes. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice at Old Dominion University and is earning her Masters in Teaching at Liberty University. She has been teaching since 2017 and is excited to be part of Daytime Playtime. She is married and enjoys being a mommy to her Goldendoodle puppy, Moose. She loves teaching children, especially this age group, because of their excitement to attend school for the first time. They are eager to learn and not afraid to get messy! Seeing the pure enthusiasm in their eyes is one of her favorite sights to see.

Lindsey Long    Ms. Lindsey Long, Four-Year-Old Teacher

Ms. Lindsey Long teaches our Monday through Thursday morning 4-year-old program and is our enrichment teacher for our Little Tots Dance and Yoga classes. She has a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Dance from Radford University. She has over eight years of experience teaching children in Kindergarten and in Pre-K. She is married to her husband, Josh, and they have two children together, Declan and Connor. Early childhood education is her passion. She loves watching children explore the world around them and grow in knowledge. It is her goal to make sure children feel comfortable and safe at school, while learning in a fun environment. She enjoys bringing music, movement and dance to her students. In her spare time, she enjoys dance, photography, crafts and spending time with her family.

Sarah Germek    Ms. Sarah Germek, Jr. Kindergarten Teacher

Ms. Sarah Germek is our Monday through Friday half day 4-year-old program and full day Jr. Kindergarten teacher. She has over ten years of experience in the childcare sector. During that time, she spent seven years in the daycare setting, two years in private pre-K and one year in public school. She has three children (Mackenzee, Landon and Noah) and two attend Daytime Playtime. She enjoys being around children. She strongly believes teachers lay the foundation for the future. Ms. Sarah believes that children are innocent, loving and empathetic and that they love you unconditionally. She enjoys that children trust you and rely on you to teach them everything you possibly can.

Olga Watanabe    Ms. Olga Watanabe, Spanish Immersion Teacher

Ms. Olga started with Daytime Playtime in 2017. She began as our Mommy Morning Out teacher and now she teaches our Spanish Immersion class on Friday mornings. You might see her throughout the week helping out in the Mommy Morning Out and 2 year old classes, for she loves teaching toddlers. She is from Peru and earned a Bachelors Degree in Science in Early Childhood Education at the University Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. When Ms. Olga is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children traveling and experiencing the world around them.

Victoria Williams    Ms. Victoria Williams, Support Staff

Ms. Victoria has been with Daytime Playtime since 2017. She works in the office and helps the teachers when extra hands are needed. She is currently a graduate student at George Mason University. She is earning a Master’s Degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood and Applied Behavior Analysis. She has a B.A. in Sociology and a B.S in Psychology. She has worked with children ages 3 years all the way up to 15 years of age. She has worked with children with autism in LA and CA. Ms. Victoria’s passion to teach grew when her baby brother was diagnosed with autism. Her calm and reserved personality was developed due to the need of growing up in a quiet household. She loves helping children grow and expand their knowledge. When she isn’t working or attending college, she enjoys traveling, the arts, watching movies and reading.
